Migrated to Ghost

You may or may not have noticed that my site has changed a bit. Originally I was using Drupal 8 however I have now migrated to something a bit more suitable for my needs.

Let me introduce my new Ghost blog!

Right, for the questions…

Questions

You work at a Drupal agency, why have you gone for Ghost over Drupal?

I may work for a Drupal Agency but I work as a Linux SysAdmin (and AWS Guru) so I don’t get a lot of time to actually learn how to use Drupal. As such I am a bit of a n00b.

Drupal’s easy, why not stick with it?

It’s effort. I don’t have a lot of free time. As a CMS it is fairly good and very extendable as a platform… but I want to be able to quickly write content. I don’t need to prat about with modules.

Why not WordPress?

Again, effort.

Why Ghost?

Node.js applications are fairly good at being responsive and often require less resources than some of the PHP alternatives. Ghost is nippier than anything Drupal or WordPress is yet to offer (in my opinion). I don’t want to spend a lot of money on hosting and DigitalOcean’s smallest droplet does me fine cost wise.

Why not try Drupal with Varnish/HHVM/etc.?

Yet again, effort. I don’t get a lot of free time. I want quick and easy right out of the box!

DigitalOcean, I thought you were into AWS?!

AWS for business, DigitalOcean for pleasure. Simple.
